Some Facebook groups to check out

Here are some types of Facebook groups you should search for and check out to meet new customers, find hidden properties that are coming to market in your area, or network within your bracket or brand.

Every city/town has at least one local Facebook group dedicated to the community. Many cities have many groups. Join and participate in your local groups by posting and commenting, positioning yourself as a local expert. Make sure you are always adding value, not selling.

In my office town of Newton, MA, there are over a dozen Facebook groups – everything from a parenting group to a free stuff group. Joining groups that work for you is a great (free) way to get your name out there.

If you have a large, national brand, look for Facebook groups within your company. In Keller Williams’ world, for example, there is a Wellness group, a group for agents with ADHD, a group for young professionals, a luxury group, multiple referral groups, and more. Ask at your dealership to find brokerage-specific Facebook groups and join the ones that make sense to you.

One of the best ways to find properties before they go on the market is to check your local fore/off market Facebook groups. Use these groups to find the homes buyers prefer or find deals for your investor clients. Most places will have at least one group coming soon. If you tell your buyer about a property that is not currently on the MLS, you will be a hero!

Remember to visit the Facebook groups you join to get the most value out of them. Comment on other people’s posts if you can answer a question in a helpful way and post your own questions and success stories to inspire others. Think of them as the communities they are, full of agents like you trying to do more business and help more people!
