50 Uses of Old Socks
Socks always get lost in the laundry. What can you do with one left over pair of socks? Here are 50 ways to use old socks:
1. Baby Wash Cloth
Take an old soft sock and use it as a washcloth for your baby.
2. Football
Roll up one sock, roll one over the first, then take the thinnest sock and place it on top of the roll. Turn the sock around the inside of the fold, then fold it again. Now you have a soft type of ball to play indoors or outdoors.
3. Bath Mat
Cut the toe off the long sock, then start cutting a 1 inch spiral line up to the cuff of the sock. Using scraps like this, crochet to make bath mats, table hotplates, place markers and more.
4. Bean bags
Fill the children’s socks with rice. Sew the top closed to make a bean bag.
5. Woven Rugs
Cut the socks into strips, join the strips together to make a long width almost like thick yarn and use to make woven rugs.
6. Can Cozies
Cut the feet off the old socks. Place the socks in the cans to absorb the moisture.
7. Candles
Keep taper candles from breaking or scratching by putting them in socks.
8. Cat Toy
Fill with cat nip and tie at the end to make a cat toy.
9. Christmas Stocking
You don’t need a fancy Christmas stocking. Hold up an old stocking for Santa to fill.

Wipe the boards with an old sock.

Cut off the foot and slide it over the mugs to keep drinks warm. It also works to keep cold drinks cool.

Cut the toe off of two socks that are roughly the same size. Cut off the sock at the ankle and half of the toe. You will now have a ‘tube’ with two open ends. Cut the tube to open it in one piece. Take both pieces, put the smooth sides together and pin together. Sew around all four; then sew an X from one corner to the other and you have a quick washcloth.
14. Dog Toy
Tie a knot in the end of the tube sock. Use tug-of-war with your dog.
15. Doll Clothes
Old socks make wonderful pieces of fabric for children to create doll clothes.
16. Dusting
Place an old sock on your hand in the dirt. It makes entering corners easier.
17. Gloves
In an emergency, put two old socks on your hands to protect from the cold if you don’t have gloves.

Place an ice pack inside an old sock to protect the skin.
