According to a new study by Smart Energy GBit seems the over 60s are showing the younger generations how to do it when it comes to side hustles.
In fact, 37% of those surveyed have started their own money making programs in the past year. Who said retirement is for rest?
Instead of giving up, many use their skills to earn more money, and the ways they do it are amazing.
Pet sitting and gardening services both came out on top, with 19% of respondents sticking around.
Who wouldn’t want to get paid to hang out with furry friends or potter around the garden?
But that is just the beginning. 17% of experienced people over the age of 60 make money by buying and selling clothes, proving that you can still have an eye for fashion at any age.
And, if you thought podcasting was for millennials, think again—10% of over-60s are trying their hand at it, which can make for some seriously interesting content.
Some even get into social media, with 8% trying to become influencers and 7% managing social media accounts.

On the other side of traditional, there are still many bread and butter jobs like baking wedding cakes, painting and decorating, and cleaning the house.
And for those who want to make the most of their homes, 7% have listed their spare rooms on Airbnb. After all, if you’re not using that guest room, why not make some extra dosh on it?
The rise of hybrid and remote working has also been a real winner for this age group.
A strong 59% of workers over the age of 60 said working from home gave them the opportunity to explore their interests while earning an income.
More than half (56%) even believe they have adapted to this new way of working better than their younger counterparts—even though, on the other hand, heating bills have risen.
Energy costs are also a big topic for this group.
85% are looking for ways to cut back, and half are planning to move back into the office in winter just to keep their heating costs down!
