A Russian drone crashed into a high-rise in Kyiv, causing fires and forcing people to evacuate

(Reuters) – A Russian jet crashed into a multi-storey building in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Friday evening, sparking a fire on the top floor of the building and evacuating residents, officials said.
“There is a fire in a building in the Solomyanskyi district that was hit by an enemy plane,” Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on the Telegram messaging app. “The 17th, 18th and 19th floors have been damaged. Emergency crews are on the scene.”
Serhiy Popko, head of the capital’s military unit, said residents were being evacuated from a building west of the city center. Information about the injured was being clarified, he wrote in Telegram.
A photo posted on social media shows a high-rise building engulfed in smoke and a fire on one of the top floors.
Popko also said that pieces of the drone landed in an open area in the center of Shevchenkivskyi district. No injuries were reported.
