Danielle Wilkie talks about the representation of women in real estate coaching

On this week’s episode of the RealTrending podcast, host Tracey Velt is joined by Danielle Wilkie, founder of Helmdiscussing emerging trends in real estate, representation of women in wealth coaching and artificial intelligence.
This interview is edited for length and clarity. To begin the discussion, Wilkie examines his work before he founded The Helm.
Danielle Wilkie: As you know, women make up more than two-thirds of the real estate agents in the country. We found that less than a third actually make nationally recognized coaches. When we saw that gap, we had to do something about it. And of course, that’s how we introduced Helm.
Tracey Velt: What can a female coach give women that you think a male coach can’t?
Wilkie: There is truth – and the speed to truth – that can sometimes be different when you don’t have that dynamic with a man and a woman. There are many women who want a different way.
Vel: I think there is really something very important about niche training. Tell me how that plays into what you do.
Wilkie: For a long time in real estate, most people go to one person and know it all. They are professional and help me forever – almost like a kind of mentor. I don’t think that’s the most efficient way of doing things. No one can be professional or passionate and happy in every aspect. It’s just not possible. I think there will be some slack among the coaches.
Second, you will see the rise of the creative economy in real estate. In the next five years, I think any real estate agent will be a coach. Therefore, there will be a need to differentiate, promote and demonstrate quality.
Vel: Let’s talk about artificial intelligence. I think it’s a topic that confuses a lot of people.
Wilkie: When I think about how AI will impact training and real estate and beyond, I realize that content is irrelevant. Coaching often meant developing a program or writing a book. Now what will really matter is the knowledge with which you wrap that content. It’s the life you live, the knowledge you’ve gained, and you bring that to the content.
Vel: Do you see emerging trends in technology or AI and its use in real estate?
Wilkie: I think the No. 1 trend is 1 is a back-office development. This is where all the money can be taken out of businesses that aren’t performing well. After that, you’ll start to see it translate more to what happened before, but that’s where all the opportunity is.
To conclude the discussion, Wilkie explores the concept of conscious leadership.
Wilkie: It was a new but rapidly growing concept in the technology space. Leaders were looking for ways to manage themselves in a different way. Authentic leadership is a great blueprint for how to do that, so we went through it, and it was life changing for me professionally and personally.
