Amy Stockberger explores her retailer’s desire for ‘home support for life’

In a recent episode of the RealTrending podcast, Amy Stockberger — the dealer owner of Amy Stockberger Real Estate — joins Tracey Velt for an engaging discussion covering her unique team model “Forever Home Support” and other ways agents can provide value to home buyers and sellers.
This interview has been slightly edited for length and clarity. The conversation begins with a window into Stockberger’s past and his early involvement with real estate.
Amy Stockberger: I was a buyer’s agent, and I decided that wasn’t for me. I got my sister to join me right away, I started a team with her and a part-time assistant, and we started growing.
Since then, we have been the most productive group in our state, and we have been fortunate to continue to grow and serve in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota area.
Tracey Velt: Tell me a little about your “Home Support for All” model and how it has changed your approach to real estate.
Stockberger: In 2014, I saw a big hole in our business. With the number of clients we were serving, we weren’t getting that repeat and referral business. We have developed a serve-serve-sell system for every step of the home buying and selling process.
Vel: What are some of the main principles of this model?
Stockberger: First, we added a moving truck. The second thing we did was our tool shed party. I was providing a service to them, without that need for real estate, to keep them on their toes and make sure I was helping them with everything they needed.
Vel: How do you encourage your current or past buyers and sellers to actually use the services you offer?
Stockberger: It is available everywhere. It’s one of the first things we go through. Also, has anyone shown how the purchasing system works, or anything new in the industry? We go through that too.
We have a plan and strategy for every step of the process before, during and after. We simply walk them through unique value propositions that match their human experience.
Vel: Finding multiple sources of income is very important for real estate leaders to do. What are some non-traditional ways to make money?
Stockberger: We borrow from Amazon model and seek sponsors for our client events. And those are profit centers for us. It also provides an opportunity for our sellers to get in and be in front of our market and their target market, which is our audience.
Vel: What do you think is shaping the future of real estate right now?
Stockberger: One of the reasons why we are in the state our industry is in is that there was what was perceived as a lack of value. I think what agents should really be doing is tripling their service model.
What do they do for their clients outside of the transaction? What are the customer care standards throughout their human journey? Moving from industrial to revolutionary will allow certain agents to be highly successful in our industry going forward.
