Apartment industry software company AppFolio has released FolioSpace, a new product it calls a “next-generation living experience” that improves the usability, quality and value of interactions between residents and property managers, according to an Oct. 23.
The company, which says it has more than 20,000 property management customers, also announced that it has acquired property management and LiveEasy services as part of its new offering for tenants. LiveEasy started as a relocation management solution and evolved into a more sophisticated lifestyle services application.
“By directly integrating LiveEasy and offering its services as part of FolioSpace Resident Onboarding, AppFolio will reduce travel stress, bring more convenience, and save tenants time and money,” the release said.
FolioSpace is designed to get more value out of tenant occupancy information from the application stage, which will include faster decision-making due to more accurate and complete data validation and processing.
Approved tenants can expect a modern onboarding and check-in thanks to a “customizable digital checklist to improve leasing and welcome new residents” and, with the new LiveEasy integration, “access to savings and dedicated support in setting up their utilities, internet and cable. , and mobile services.”
The Resident Services Marketplace will provide users with a valuable vendor database while the new Inbox provides a local point of contact, where maintenance requests, lease questions, payment information and other needs will come to life for the resident.
The new services will also rely in part on Realm-X, AppFolio’s end-to-end multifamily housing system designed to simplify and integrate many of the daily tasks that apartment owners face. It also works with private landlords and can scale to provide management offices of all sizes.
Realm-X includes automation at a user-specific level, according to Will Moxley, senior vice president of product at AppFolio. In a statement in June 2024 when it was released, he called it “extra hands.”
“Our first customers see Realm-X as a strategic advantage that streamlines their day-to-day operations, freeing up time to rethink how they want to run things in the future,” Moxley said. “And right now, it allows them to continue to grow while improving the productivity of every team member.”
Venkatesh Ganapathy, CEO of LiveEasy, which started as MoveEasy, he said the mission of his company goes beyond its sales.
“LiveEasy’s mission is to provide an amazingly simple and lively experience that combines technology and a human touch for tenants and landlords,” said Ganapathy. “With AppFolio’s commitment to innovation and expanding footprint, we believe this combination will advance that mission and enable us to exceed the expectations of existing and new customers.”
Inman reviewed LiveEasy, then MoveEasy, back in 2017 and all its evolutions. The company has been praised for its digital efficiency in using one of the most emotional aspects of home buying – travel.
“Among other things, this product follows homeowners beyond their relocation with consistent updates and provides information on insurance services, mortgage financing, home security, home management services and even Internet service providers. It also helps keep agents in touch with customers over time and prepares users for their next move. MoveEasy has established numerous national dealer partnerships,” the review said.
AppFolio’s growth across the board reflects a greater trend toward multifamily-oriented software investment, which may be the result of a plodding course correction for the single-family market. This year’s sales numbers look to be very low, according to Fannie Mae’s latest forecast. In turn, employers reported to Redfin that they were hiring for longer periods of time.
To improve quality of residence over time and ensure renewal, landlords and property managers are turning to technology, such as AppFolio.
“We envision a world where living in communities feels magical and effortless, freeing people to succeed,” said Chris Womack, chief growth officer of AppFolio. “By adopting LiveEasy and developing a single powerful AppFolio platform with FolioSpace, we are taking an important step in our journey to deliver exceptional value and experience to our property management customers and self-employed residents.”
