Black Friday Splurge 2024 – Retire by 40

Hello everyone. Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have an easy week. RB40Jr has a week off from school and we’re taking it easy. Over the weekend, he helped me clean up the trash and prepare the house for winter. Also, I braved the grocery store on Saturday and picked up a few things from Best Buy. Wow, now we’re ready for Thanksgiving. I’m going to chill at home for the next few days.

Black Friday Splurge

In the old days, people used to wake up before dawn to shop the morning after Thanksgiving. I remember queuing at different stores, but it’s been years since I did that. Black Friday shopping is very easy today. Online deals are just as good as going to the store. Well, maybe you can get a better deal by checking in at 5am, but that’s too much effort for me now. Well, 2024 has been a good year for investors. Why not help the economy by growing a little this Black Friday? Additionally, I want to apply now because Dear Leader’s tax plan is coming soon. Everything will cost 10-20% next year, maybe.

Laptop – under $500

My current laptop is almost 10 years old. It’s lame, but it would be nice to have a laptop that works well. I don’t want to spend more than $500, though. There’s a Lenovo laptop on sale at Best Buy. It has a Ryzen 7 5700U, 16GB of memory, and a 512GB SSD for $420. This should be good enough for blogging and general web browsing. I picked this up on Saturday, but haven’t opened it yet. If I get a better deal, I might return it.

Xbox controller – $40

I got my son an Xbox controller. This will be one of his Christmas presents. These Xbox controllers don’t last long. Stick drift is a real problem. Maybe I should get a backup too.

Bluetooth speaker – under $100

Mrs. RB40 has been spending a lot of time on his favorite crafts in the basement. A Bluetooth speaker can be a great gift for him. Right now, you are listening to music on the phone’s speaker. It’s disgusting. The new speaker will improve its listening experience significantly. Maybe you’ll spend a lot of time in the basement. Hahaha…

Bass Ukulele – under $200

I am taking a ukulele class at the community center this quarter. Very nice and now I want to try bass ukulele. I’ll probably need a bass amp again, but that can wait. I’m sure there are plenty of used bass amps around.

All in all, I should get away with less than $1,000. A laptop should not count. It’s for blogging and I can pull it.

Okay, that’s it for today. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! What’s on your shopping list this year?
