The Georgia MLS has made other technology-enabled efforts to improve data availability for agents. It recently released a mobile app, GAMLS connectNOW, to allow agents to access data from anywhere.
According to Georgia MLS CEO Richard Boone, the organization wants to provide subscribers with the most accurate experience possible.
“For 63 years, the Georgia MLS has been dedicated to providing subscribers with the most efficient and accurate real estate marketplace,” Boone said in a statement. “This expansion of location and sharing of listing data greatly increases opportunities for members across all participating MLSs. This partnership will benefit thousands of agents across Georgia by ultimately allowing them to provide higher levels of service to the clients they serve.”
The seven local MLSs included in the agreement are located in the southern region of the state. These MLSs include Albany Board of Realtors, Tift Area Board of Realtors, Consumer Cool Board, Thomasville Area Board of Realtors, Moultrie Board of Realtors, Southwest GA Board of Realtors as well as Douglas-Coffee County Board of Realtors.
The remaining MLSs are distributed in other parts of the state and the Atlanta metropolitan area. All agents working in these regions can now access listings within the statewide MLS.
The Georgia MLS reported 21,701 active listings in December 2024, down nearly 5% from its 22,933 listings in November. But this is also up more than 40% from the list of 15,429 in December 2023.
Home buyers remain active in the Georgia market during the holiday season, with total sales increasing from November to December. According to the Georgia MLS, member agents amassed $3.4 billion in real estate sales volume in December alone. But home sales in December exceeded new listings, following a two-month trend driven by the so-called lock-in effect. Still, 9,027 lists arrived in Georgia in December.
