Indian stocks lower in late trade; Nifty 50 down 1.23% Via Investing.com

Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the end of the NSE, it lost 1.23% to reach a new 3-month high, while the index lost 1.16%.

Currently, Infosys Ltd (NS:) added 0.47% or 8.70 points to end at 1,868.80 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd . (NS:) was up 0.35% or 6.25 points to 1,800.85 in late trade.

They did the worst in the session Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:), which fell 7.49% or 407.10 points to trade at 5,027.55 at the close. Bharat Electronics Ltd (NS:) declined 3.20% or 9.60 points to end at 290.15 and NTPC Ltd (NS:) declined 3.12% or 12.25 points to 380.30.

The top performers in the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) rose 0.28% to 1,800.00, Infosys Ltd (BO:) rose 0.06% to settle at 1,861.10 and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) gained 0.04% to close at 1,269.60.

The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO: ) which fell 3.06% to 380.45 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd . (BO:) lost 2.79% to settle at 2,471.80 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) fell 2.75%. to 1,718.00 in the end.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Indian National Stock Exchange in 1918 to 533 and 160 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2589 fell and 1179 advanced, while 96 ended unchanged.

Shares in Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) dropped to a 3-year low; down 2.79% or 70.85 to 2,471.80.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, rose 3.28% to 14.74.

Gold futures for December delivery fell 0.76% or 19.90 to $2,597.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude oil for December delivery rose 0.56% or 0.38 to $68.42 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.52% or 0.37 to trade at $72.20 a barrel.

USD/INR fell 0.03% to 84.39, while EUR/INR fell 0.45% to 89.55.

US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.34% at 105.82.
