US may impose ‘very large sanctions’ on Taliban leaders, Rubio’s secretary of state says via Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. could impose a “very large crackdown” on top Taliban leaders, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday, adding that the Taliban were holding more American hostages than ever before.

“Just to hear the Taliban have taken more American hostages than they have stolen,” Rubio said in a post on Social Media Platform X.

“If this is true, we’re going to have to quickly put a large concentration on their top leaders, probably much larger than what we had on Bin Laden,” he added.
